A rare and charming antique French optician's table display case, dating from the early 20th century and originally used as a counter display in an optician's shop. According to the previous owner, this elegant piece comes from an optician and would have been used to showcase glasses, optical accessories, or other delicate items directly on a counter or display table. This beautiful model of table display case features a tambour curtain door that slides up to reveal a slanted glass display compartment, allowing for the presentation of items while protecting them. Beneath the display case is a lockable drawer, which closes with the curtain thanks to the original locking mechanism. Made from walnut wood, the display case has developed a lovely antique patina and is finished with traditional beer paint, giving the surface a weathered look with pretty cracked details on the sides. Its compact proportions make it an ideal counter display case, a collector's cabinet, a jewellery showcase, a curiosity cabinet, or a decorative conversation piece. A decorative and unusual item with genuine French character. In good antique condition with age-related wear, patina, surface marks, and signs of use consistent with its age. Small imperfections and wear that contribute to its authentic charm. Functional and decorative.
