Magnificent Lumax ashtray / catch-all in moulded glass, designed by Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand for Lumax. A small French design object particularly recognisable by its block-like glass shape, thick walls, and spectacular granite-like texture. The glass allows light to play on all sides and gives the object an astonishing presence despite its compact size. Originally designed as an ashtray, it now functions perfectly as a catch-all, desk organiser, card holder, jewellery dish, or small decorative item. The geometric sobriety of the model is typical of mid-20th century French modernist design. Dating: 1950s-1960s.
