Console, Italian painting, 1920s

1920s Italian console/petinus. An elegant antique petinus, highly decorative with a shell-shaped top and apron, framed by extensive hand-carved foliage and scroll ornamentation. Two side doors open to spacious storage compartments, with a decorative central panel in figured walnut. From the top view, we can see the rectangular top with gently rounded corners and a protruding moulded edge, resting on four elegant turned and fluted cabriole legs, with bulbous carved details and shaped feet. The condition is very good for its age, despite some minimal scratches due to age and use and a small defect inside the cabinet (visible in the photos). Presented with moth holes, visible in the photos. The patina is superbly splendid. It has been well made with great craftsmanship. Measurements: Width 110 cm x depth 43 cm x height 67.5 cm. Made in Italy. Period: 1920s/1930s.
