Royal Delft blue and white hand-painted chinoiserie table lamp, 1979, from De Porceleyne Fles — the Netherlands' oldest surviving Delft pottery. Offered with a new custom drum shade in fine green-and-white pinstripe fabric with solid green trim, fitted with a US plug or international plug of your choice; height as listed includes the lampshade. The earthenware base carries a hallmark Chinoiserie composition: a long-tailed exotic bird perched among large peony blooms and trailing foliage, all rendered in rich cobalt blue against a luminous white ground. The baluster form is one of the most enduring shapes in the Royal Delft repertoire fitted here with a brass collar that transitions to a bespoke drum shade in fine green-and-white pinstripe fabric, finished with a solid green trim at the rim. The pairing of deep cobalt blue and fresh apple green gives the lamp a crisp, spirited presence that suits both traditional interiors and more adventurous, pattern-forward rooms. The underside carries the printed blue semicircular De Porceleyne Fles factory label alongside the hand-painted JT, jar mark, and "Delft" in script — the dating system used by the factory since 1879. To the left of the mark are the painter's initials; to the right, the year code CX, confirming production in 1979. Newly wired with a fabric wrapped twisted navy cord. About Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) De Porceleyne Fles was established in 1653 in Delft, the Netherlands, and is the only pottery from the original cluster of 17th-century Delft faience workshops that remains in operation today. Revived and modernized by Joost Thooft in 1876 — whose initials, JT, remain embedded in the factory mark — the manufactory received royal patronage and became known internationally as Royal Delft. Every hand-painted piece is marked with a year code, painter's initials, and shape number, making each example fully traceable. The factory's blue and white wares are held in major museum collections and remain actively.
