Art Nouveau vase, alexandrite crystal glass, Moser, Czechia, early 20th century

A Secessionist vase from the Moser manufactory from the early 20th century is an example of refined Czech artistic glass craftsmanship. Made entirely of colourless alexandrite crystal with a light blue-green hue, it shows high transparency and a cool, noble colour – characteristic of this unusual type of glass that changes tone in different lighting. The body of the vase has a six-faceted, prismatic form with clearly defined vertical planes. Sharply cut edges intensify the play of light, enhancing refraction effects and allowing observation of dynamic reflections. The surface is polished to a high gloss, with the clarity of the crystal well preserved. In the central part of the vessel, there is a hand-engraved, frosted floral motif – a large flower (probably an iris) with elongated leaves. The decoration reveals inspiration from Art Nouveau: soft lines, organic freedom of pattern, and a combination of transparent and matte textures. The base is wide and stable, and the slightly narrowing walls towards the top complete the composition, maintained in harmony between geometric rigor and fluid, naturalistic forms. There are no metal fittings or handles – the entire piece is made exclusively of crystal glass. Condition is very good – no chips, cracks, or signs of repair; the surface has retained its shine and integrity, with only minimal age-appropriate traces visible.
