This Japanese desk dates from the Shōwa period (1926–1989), a time marked by profound social and industrial changes in Japan. Furniture from this period is characterised by clean, well-balanced lines and a very functional approach, designed for durable everyday use. It is made from a combination of Japanese oak (Quercus spp.) and Japanese ash (Fraxinus mandshurica var. Japonica), with structural elements in Shorea (Shorea spp.) and plywood, materials widely used during the Shōwa period for their strength and stability. The overall design is robust while maintaining a certain visual lightness. The desk offers clear organisation, with two upper drawers and a side storage block, allowing for a simple and effective structuring of the workspace. The integrated wooden handles highlight the piece's minimalist character. The natural patina of the wood, with its soft hues, adds warmth and authenticity. A functional and timeless desk, perfectly suited for contemporary interiors, workspaces, or studios seeking calm and quality. It is in excellent condition, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique, due to the passage of time. UNIQUE PIECE.
