Elegant Playing Table (or Work Table) from the Empire Period. Presumed period: Early 19th century (Empire style). This elegant rectangular table features a top with a rounded edge. The top is designed to pivot and unfold, revealing a double-sided playing surface, traditionally covered with green felt. Once opened, the table doubles its surface area, transforming from a console format to a square format. Structure and Ornamentation: The apron is simple and moulded, incorporating a hidden drawer (or pull-out drawer) on one of the long sides. It rests on four tapered and straight legs. The upper ends of the legs are adorned with rings of chiselled bronze (probably a ring or a capital). The base consists of a characteristic X-shaped stretcher with a beautiful curve. The legs end with pads. Condition: Good overall condition considering its age, with the usual signs of use (small scratches, marks on the green felt visible in the last photo, slight signs of patina and wear on the veneer).
