Aero lamp designed by Ettore Sottsass for Bieffeplast, 1980s

Post Modern table lamp with model name Aero designed by Ettore Sottsass. This Italian lamp in Memphis style was manufactured by Bieffeplast in the 80s. This table lamp has the geometric shapes typical for this style. It is made of enamelled steel and aluminium in the colours grey, yellow and black. The lamp is adjustable in different ways. There are also 2 light intensities that can be controlled by means of the switch. The desk lamp is in very nice vintage condition with a very light scratch here and there that is barely visible. Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007) was the founder of the Memphis Group, a group of interior designers from 1981-1987. The group rebelled against the strict functional rules of modernism and their ideas would leave a significant mark on the look of the 1980s. The style is linked to postmodernism and drew its inspiration from pop art and art deco.
