Complete series of 15 Art Deco Dance Illustrations (1937) by Serge Ivanoff

Magnificent and rare complete set of 15 colour compositions by the Russian-born artist Serge Ivanoff (1893-1983). These works, featuring sublime gold and silver highlights typical of the Art Deco period, are from the famous Christmas issue of 1937 of the magazine L'Illustration. They gracefully illustrate the history of dance through the centuries (original texts by critic Émile Vuillermoz): The 15 illustrations have been professionally framed to a high standard. They are harmoniously grouped within 5 large coordinated frames, creating stunning wall polyptychs: Frame 1 (4 dances): The Branle, The Baladine, The Pavane, The Karole (Middle Ages & Renaissance) Frame 2 (4 dances): The Minuet, The Gaillarde, The Carmagnole, The Gavotte (18th Century & Revolution) Frame 3 (3 dances): The Danse Basse, The Quadrille des Lanciers, The Waltz (19th Century) Frame 4 (2 dances): The Polka, The Contredanse (19th Century bourgeois) Frame 5 (2 dances): The Tango, The Boston Waltz (Modernity early 20th Century) – A diptych of incredible sensuality! Each frame features a superb moulding in imitation precious wood burl, enhanced by an elegant mount that perfectly isolates the paper, and is protected under glass. The whole set offers exceptional visual impact, ideal for creating a refined wall gallery in a living room, a large corridor, a liberal office, or a hotel. Very good overall condition. The frames are stable and elegant, and the colours and metallic reflections (gold/silver) of the engravings are beautifully preserved. Given the fragility of the glass, I highly recommend choosing delivery via the carrier Selency (expert in fragile items) or a trusted carpooling service like Cocolis.
