Chromolithograph on paper depicting a procession heading towards a small rural church at dusk. In the centre, framed by the trees in the foreground, a young couple holding hands stands out. The young woman, dressed in a long light-coloured dress, appears to be carving something into the trunk of one of the trees under the gaze of the young man, who is equally elegantly dressed. This could be a reference to marriage. This lithograph was created by Balluriau for the magazine “L’Estampe moderne”, series number 3, published in July 1897. Two signatures of the artist are visible: One on the plate to the left of the composition. The other handwritten, accompanied by a drawing of a face in sanguine, at the bottom right. In good condition. From the late 19th century.
