Modular Art Deco centrepiece by Clarice Cliff, 1930.

Authentic and rare modular table centrepiece from the Art Deco period (circa 1930), designed by the famous British designer Clarice Cliff for the A.J. Wilkinson Ltd factory in England. This complete set (model known as "as you like it" or flower trough) includes 4 pieces in fine cream/ivory glazed earthenware: 2 long curved troughs (shape number 659 engraved on the base): length approximately 25 cm; 2 straight rectangular troughs (shape number 657 engraved on the base): length approximately 12.5 cm. Modular as desired, these four pieces fit together to form an elegant large central oval, perfect for holding floral arrangements, plants, or dried flowers. Condition: The set has a beautiful craquelure in its glaze (fine original surface cracks, very characteristic of these English earthenwares). In the interest of transparency, one of the two curved pieces has a small clean chip on the upper outer rim, accompanied by a fine hairline (visible in the detail photos). The other modules are in good usable condition. The set remains robust, and the defect becomes discreet once the modules are assembled into an oval.
