It offers generous proportions, culminating at 1.30 m high, while remaining quite "light" visually, thanks to its beautiful, fairly high scrolled legs and the discreetly fretted lower plinth. And above all, the patina of this oak, over 200 years old, is particularly luminous! These 18th century oak furniture pieces are less common and generally come from the provinces. This one opens with three drawers with very elegant fronts, carved in wood and adorned with their beautiful brass handles. The central drawer, narrower, no longer has its original lock and the round handle was added for convenience. Above, the two massive doors pivot perfectly on their hinges with a very fluid design. The keyholes are original but not the locks and keys, which have been changed. The decoration, this floral stem which goes to the side like a comma is sober and very successful. Inside, two fixed (but removable) shelves offer beautiful storage spaces. They were added previously for convenience. The top protrudes on the sides, creating an impression of lightness as well. It is composed of three boards in good condition. There are inevitable signs of wear and tear as well as a reinforcement inside: a strip placed between the bottom and the front to support one of the drawers, I think. It is almost invisible even when the cabinet is open. Apart from that, it is in excellent general condition, solid and stable. Above all, it has a proud appearance and will embellish any room, even if it is furnished in a modern style. It comes from a large bourgeois residence in the Paris region.
