Spanish Vargueno Walnut Cabinet
Magnificent Spanish Vargueno walnut cabinet. 18th century period. Magnificent cabinet (word which means a chest for personal use which was portable or travel placed on a base) Furniture in two parts. Note that the flap is missing but does not detract from the charm of this very beautiful piece of furniture. Opening on the front with 8 drawers in total (6 small and 2 large) With gilded bronze pull handles. Presence of original side carrying handles. Presence of 2 retractable supports in the shape of scallop shells which originally supported the cabinet lid. The chest rests on a magnificent sculpted and molded base connected by a bridge of turned columns. Good general state of conservation, see photos.
