Nantes wardrobe in cherry wood, Louis XV style – first part of the 19th century

Style: classic. This superb regional wardrobe, known as "gendarme hat", elegantly embodies the aesthetics of the Louis XV style. Made from solid cherry wood, it opens at the front with two majestic doors featuring medallions. These doors, slightly protruding compared to the feet, are securely held by two brass fittings each. The closure is facilitated by an original lock in perfect working condition, accompanied by its key. Long brass entries, finely chiselled with flowing lines, adorn the front and highlight the attention to detail. This is a wedding wardrobe, with a man's face and a woman's face engraved on the brass fittings. Between the two doors, a central pilaster stands out, topped with two decorative elements with three flutes. The upper crossbar is delicately carved with a basket of flowers, an emblematic motif of the Louis XV style. The cornice, simply crafted, gives the whole piece a discreet elegance. The sides of the wardrobe consist of angled posts, adorned with stopped flutes, which finish at the bottom with so-called "snail" feet. The interior, currently equipped with 3 shelves, can accommodate a hanging rail according to your needs, thus offering great modularity, along with a drawer spanning the entire width of the middle shelf and a small drawer beneath the top shelf.
