DESCRIPTION: Imposing sculptural vase in glazed ceramic, characteristic of the superb productions from West Germany (West German Pottery) during the Mid-Century period. This cylindrical model with two levels stands out for its resolutely "Brutalist" and organic aesthetic. The body of the vase is entirely covered with a moulded decoration in high relief, alternating geometric friezes, circles, and chevrons with an almost tribal or architectural appearance. The glazing is particularly successful: a greyish-white with a mineral look (like stone or chalk) that settles on the reliefs, allowing the dark clay to show through in the hollows to highlight the patterns. It is a heavy (nearly 1 kg) and textured piece, ideal for integrating into a contemporary, wabi-sabi, or bohemian interior.
