Console in mahogany veneer, Empire style – first part of the 20th century

Superb Empire-style console in mahogany veneer. This refined piece features a lift-up top revealing an elegant compartment perfectly fitted for discreet storage. The frieze is adorned with finely chiselled bronze fittings, including delicate palmettes that highlight the decorative rigor characteristic of the imperial vocabulary. The functional lock is accompanied by an ornate bronze key that completes the elegance of this decorative piece. The whole rests on an X-shaped base, of curule type, entirely made of gilded brass. The supports, shaped like intertwined cornucopias, give the silhouette a sculptural presence and an almost architectural dynamic, while a central stretcher ensures stability and enriches the composition. A harmonious blend of noble materials and imperial lines, this salon table embodies the refinement and distinction of the Empire style. Period: early 20th century. Restored in our workshop. 613V.
