Antique egg holder in polychrome faience by Jules Verlingue, circa 1903-1920, composed of six compartments arranged around an elegant twisted central handle in shaded green glaze. The piece features a fully hand-painted decoration in a bright palette: cobalt blue, saffron yellow, olive green, and deep orange. Each compartment is adorned with stylised floral motifs inspired by ancient Flemish and Breton faiences. One of them bears a particularly decorative small crowned heraldic shield, enhancing the unique character of the whole. Painted marking under one compartment reads Jules Verlingue accompanied by model number 907, a faience maker established in Boulogne-sur-Mer in 1903. In beautiful vintage condition with signs of age consistent with its antiquity, fine glaze crazing, slight occasional wear, and small firing irregularities typical of old artisanal productions. Length 21 cm, total height 13 cm, height of a compartment 5.5 cm, diameter of a compartment 4.5 cm. An antique faience with very contemporary charm, perfect for a reimagined country setting.
