Very elegant pair of armchairs made by René Joubert and Philippe Petit for D.I.M. Between 1925 and 1930. This model perfectly illustrates the vocabulary developed by the duo at the beginning of the Art Deco period, blending architectural construction, clean lines, and balance of proportions. The perfectly balanced structure consists of a slightly inclined backrest extended by wide straight armrests, forming a compact and geometric volume. This highly controlled construction rests on a tiered base made of walnut veneer, enhancing the graphic aspect of the whole. The absence of ornamentation highlights the purity of the proportions and the quality of the materials. Completely restored and reupholstered in an off-white cotton and linen fabric, these armchairs perfectly exemplify the modernist elegance developed by D.I.M. At the end of the 1920s. Literature: Charlotte and Peter Fiell, 30s and 40s decorative art, Taschen, Köln, 2000, similar model reproduced on page 175.
