Designed in 1982 by German designer Ingo Maurer, the Bibibibi table lamp is an iconic creation of 1980s postmodern design that integrates industrial found-object elements with artisanal finishes. The structure rests on a circular white porcelain base that supports the entire composition. On the porcelain plate rise two stylised legs moulded in bright red plastic forming the shaft, supporting a semi-spherical, adjustable lampshade made of matte black lacquered metal sheet. A thin metal wire rod projects vertically from the top, topped with a tuft of natural feathers that gently sways with the movement of air. The lamp projects light downward from inside the metal shade onto the white porcelain plate, dispersing soft ambient lighting in the room and allowing the ceramic surface to be used as a tray for small personal items. Its zoomorphic silhouette combines practical function with figurative sculpture, distancing itself from strict functionalism through irony and playful form. The movable shade makes it easy to direct light on desks, consoles, side tables or accent areas in residential interior design projects. This original 1980s piece is signed by Ingo Maurer on the porcelain base.
