Original Knoll Saarinen Tulip Coffee Table

This Tulip coffee table is an original by Knoll International, designed by Eero Saarinen, and shows the all-white finish for which the series became known. The base is made of cast aluminium and sweeps out of a slender column into a wide, flat-flaring plate that carries the table with no visible joint. The round top has a diameter of 91 cm and is plastic-coated on an MDF carrier board, which keeps the surface resistant to moisture and wear. Saarinen set out to eliminate the clutter of table legs beneath furniture, and that is exactly what the Tulip table achieves in the living room: the floor stays clear around it, and armchairs can be drawn up as desired. At 39 cm high, it suits usual sofa seat heights. The condition is excellent, the lacquer and coating are free of chips, so this Mid-Century design classic is ready for immediate use.
