Dagobert chair in carved wood circa 1900

Armchair known as Dagobert in carved and moulded walnut, inspired by the throne of the King of France Dagobert (7th century) as well as the curule seats of the Romans. Gothic-style decorations with Renaissance taste, featuring grimacing masks. Two scroll-shaped armrests with acanthus leaf sculptures. Openwork backrest with a wide transverse band sculpted with foliage. X-shaped base, curved seat on wooden slats. Treated traces of woodworm, feet needing slight re-gluing. Period: around 1900.
