This lithograph “The Fairyland of Hours - The Wind” is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the bottom right corner. The work is authentic and old. Regarding its condition, there are small stains noted in the margin. The lithograph is very fresh in colour, and once framed, most of the defects will be less visible. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved on to soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theatre of the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a significant mark in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
