Art Deco gondola armchair

Very elegant antique gondola-shaped armchair, dating from the first half of the 20th century. Its backrest is enveloping and the seat is comfortable (traditional seat with springs and horsehair). This Art Deco style chair is made of patinated solid wood, featuring a seat and back upholstered in red leather and finished with upholstery nails. The top of the backrest is carved with stylised flowers very much in the style of the 1920s/1930s. It is a genuine period model, unsigned but in the spirit of creations attributed to workshops from the interwar period such as De Coene Frères or inspired by Paul Follot. The two front legs are straight and fluted, while the two back legs are saber legs. In excellent condition, the seat and backrest are impeccable with no notable wear. It should be noted that there is one nail missing at the back of the seat and a slight difference in shade in two places on the back of the backrest. It is perfectly stable and solid, and has been well maintained over time. Office armchair, lounge chair, accent chair, it will easily find its place in both a classic and modern interior.
