Empire mahogany & green leather gondola office chair, gilded bronze.
Magnificent gondola office chair in Empire style, from the first third of the 19th century. Its solid mahogany showcases a deep, warm red-brown patina acquired over the decades. The gondola backrest—a continuous rounded band resting on three vertical supports—is the elegant signature of this sovereign style. The front legs, in cylindrical columns, are adorned with finely chiseled gilded bronze sleeves: acanthus leaves, heart shapes, and twists respond with refinement. The slightly flared saber-shaped back legs complete the silhouette with balance. The semi-circular seat, generous (60 × 50 cm), is upholstered in superb emerald green leather secured by a row of silver-headed nails—a striking contrast with the dark wood. Below, a protective fabric lining in blue-gray discreetly completes the ensemble. There are some light signs of wear on the edges of the backrest, entirely consistent with the age of the piece and a testament to its authenticity. Dimensions: H. 81 cm — W. 60 cm — D. 50 cm. A character piece, ready to find its place in a director's office, a library, or an interior blending history and elegance.
