This early 1920s Thonet No. 669 'Capua' chair by Adolf Loos showcases authentic antique craftsmanship with a bentwood beech frame, mahogany stain, and a fully functional cast iron reclining and swivel mechanism, preserved in excellent condition. A rare, original Thonet No. 669 'Capua' chair designed by Adolf Loos in the early 1920s. Originally created for the iconic Café Capua in Vienna, this piece exemplifies Loos’s philosophy of functional elegance. This particular chair is preserved in exceptional original condition and features: bentwood beech frame with rich mahogany stain, fully functional cast iron reclining and swivel mechanism, original French-language Thonet label ('Fabriqué en Tchécoslovaquie'), dating it to circa 1923–1925, authentic joinery and hardware typical of early Thonet craftsmanship in Czechoslovakia. The construction, materials, and mechanical integrity reflect a museum-grade, collector-worthy piece that has never been restored or altered. The chair has been treated with natural beeswax; the original cast iron mechanism has been carefully cleaned and oiled. An ideal addition to a refined interior, historical design collection, or distinguished workspace.
