Gio Ponti set of four white Livia chairs

Originally designed by Giò Ponti in 1937, these chairs are reissued by C.C. The Livia chair takes its name from the "Livianum" offices of the University of Padua for which it was created. Timeless, the Livia chair retains all its modernity and elegance thanks to its minimalist and linear design. Made by Abbate, these chairs are crafted from white lacquered solid beech and feature a plywood seat. This set of four matching chairs is in very good condition. Giovanni "Gio" Ponti was an Italian architect, industrial designer, furniture creator, artist, teacher, writer, and publisher. Over his sixty-year career, Ponti built more than a hundred buildings in Italy and abroad. He designed numerous decorative art objects, furniture, and design elements. Through the magazine Domus, which he founded in 1928 and directed for most of his life, and his active participation in exhibitions such as the Milan Triennale, he became a passionate advocate for the Italian way of life and a major figure in the revival of Italian design after World War II. From 1936 to 1961, he taught at the Polytechnic School of Milan, training several generations of designers. Ponti also contributed to the creation of the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award in 1954.
