An elegant Biedermeier armchair, circa 1800, crafted in solid mahogany with characteristic brass appliqués. The chair features a straight, slightly curved backrest with upholstered back panel, generously proportioned swept armrests with scrolled terminals resting on shaped supports, and a wide, comfortable upholstered seat in dark striped fabric. The legs are straight and tapering, typical of the restrained neoclassical form of early Biedermeier cabinetmaking. The brass appliqués add a refined decorative accent characteristic of the transitional period between late Neoclassicism and early Biedermeier. The chair has been fully restored and presents in very good condition. Dimensions: H 98 X W 60 X D 46 cm, seat height 45 cm. Origin: Central Europe, circa 1800.
