Mid-Century Modern Suspension Cocoon by Friedel Wauer for Goldkant Leuchten, Germany, 1960s

Cocoon suspension lamps in vintage modern mid-century style by Goldkant Leuchten, based on a design by Friedel Wauer from the 1960s. This is a very rare example, one I have never seen before. A minimalist design. The Cocoon material provides diffuse and atmospheric light. At the same time, the symmetrical body of the lamp makes a striking statement piece in the room. The manufacturer, Goldkant, is known for various Cocoon lamp designs from the 1960s and 70s. Many Goldkant designs are often attributed to Castiglioni, as the patterns and shapes used are very similar. The lamp is in very good condition with signs of use and patina.
