Important portrait 18th century - Philippe Roux, Priest in Périgord - Dated 1751

This remarkable mid-18th century oil portrait depicts a high-ranking clergyman, identified by a period inscription on the back: "Philippus Roux Presbiter 1751". Acquired in the Périgueux region, this painting likely represents a member of the notable Roux family, well-established in Dordogne at that time, who held positions within the diocese. The subject is painted with great finesse, holding a breviary, with a crucifix and a library in the background symbolising his erudition and piety.
