Ancient master painting

Very beautiful portrait of a man painted in oil on canvas, dating from the 19th century. The subject is depicted in a classical style reminiscent of 17th-century portraits, wearing a green cloak, a white jabot, and a large black hat. The brushwork is assured, with beautiful texture effects on the fabrics and the face. The back of the painting bears witness to its past: the wooden frame has old writings crossed out in black felt pen, likely remnants of previous inventories or successive classifications. The frame: The work is enhanced by a richly decorated period wooden and stucco gilded frame, adorned with acanthus leaf motifs. With a depth of 7 cm, it gives remarkable relief and presence to the whole.
