Comprehensive Shelving System (CSS) Designer: George Nelson Dimensions: H300 x L174 x D40 Brand: Herman Miller I am selling the CSS bookcase (Comprehensive Storage System / Wall Unit) designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller in 1957. This modular shelf , produced between 1959 and 1973, embodies the timeless elegance of mid-century design, easy to assemble and adapt to suit your needs. The CSS consists of three aluminum uprights which accommodate the six shelves, an integrated desk module, a module with three drawers, as well as a backlit display module with sliding doors. With its modular design, this CSS library can be customized to fit any room configuration. The uprights are fixed to the floor and against the wall, offering great flexibility of use in any part of your home, whether in the living room, bedroom or office. Please note that the washer on one of the studs has been cut to allow for placement closer to the wall as shown in the photo. This in no way compromises the stability of the shelf. One of the shelves also shows the mark of a burner, traces of wear. The library is dismantled and to be picked up in Belleville.
