A layout that is both elegant, modular, and ultra-practical for your interior. This iconic modular system, Ladderax by Staples & Co (London, 1960), perfectly embodies British vintage design with Scandinavian inspiration. This model consists of 3 white lacquered steel ladders, a secretary unit, and 8 teak veneer shelves. The unit opens to 7 directly accessible storage compartments, providing a true desk for your laptop or creative projects! The uniqueness of this version is its white lacquered front unit, matching the colour of the ladders. Two depths are available: 3 large width shelves (89cm) to be placed on either side of the unit and 5 shelves of 59 cm to be organised along the full height of the adjacent section. The furniture is delivered unassembled. You will only need to attach its asymmetrical base, finished with small brass balls on the floor (the system is designed to accommodate skirting boards) and have fun adapting it to your needs. The photo is a suggested arrangement that can be freely configured. The original label is affixed inside the unit: "Staples • Ladderax • Unit Furniture • Made by Staples & Co LTD • Pat. Nos. 846454 & 37748/62 • Cricklewood London." Designed in 1964 by British designer Robert Heal for the London publisher Staples, the Ladderax system was initially distributed in prestigious stores like Harrods. Influenced by his studies in Scandinavia, Heal draws inspiration from the Danish modern movement to create a clean, accessible modular system without mandatory wall fixings. Heal created a self-supporting modular structure that would become one of the cornerstones of Mid-Century furniture in the UK. Dimensions (cm): L155 x D36 x H200. Two widths L89 + L59. Unit (usable) L86 x D32 (69 open) x H36 + 5 Shelves L59 x D36 x H2 + 3 shelves L89 x D36 x H2.
