Louis XV Curved Malouine Chest of Drawers

Exceptional malouine chest of drawers in solid suar, curved on all sides. This sumptuous chest of drawers, curved on the front and arched on the sides, is truly an extraordinary model due to its dimensions. Intended for a ceremonial piece, this chest of drawers will give the fullness of its character and nobility in a room with beautiful volumes, where a classic chest of drawers would be without brilliance. Topped with a framed top with a molded edge of a beautiful bec-de-corbin, it opens with four drawers on three rows. A characteristic feature of beautiful malouines, in addition to its elegantly cut polished brass "malouine" lock entries and handles, our chest of drawers has curved uprights highlighted with a graceful elegi or gorge and punctuated by scrolled feet decorated with a tapered palmette in stylized laurel fall as well as smooth sides called "pillow". Also note the graceful cut of the lower crosspiece, with its echo on the side crosspieces. Imposing curves, large amplitudes and fluid lines are the characteristics specific to this piece of furniture of apparent simplicity illuminated by its brass fittings. The sections of wood used are astonishing, thus the uprights are taken from 11 X 11 cm balls and the width of the intermediate crosspiece between the second and third row of drawers is 12 cm. The central drawer, which is the most curved, is taken from a 6 cm thick board. It goes without saying that the weight of this chest of drawers is very substantial: no less than four carriers (and well-muscled ones it is to be hoped) are required to lift it. Front, top and sides of the furniture in suar, interior of the drawers and back in red oak, slide in french oak, intermediate floors in tulipwood, four beautiful iron locks (with a key) and cast brass fittings.
