Old hand-painted bird plate

A hand-painted earthenware plate, adorned with birds and floral scrolls in blue and orange, that will bring a cheerful and refined touch to a wall or a display cabinet. Two birds with outstretched wings are surrounded by large rolled acanthus leaves and small flowers, in a decor full of curves that fills the entire plate. The leaves and plumage, enhanced with fine orange hatching on a blue background, showcase a beautiful mastery of the brush. The scalloped edge and slightly cracked white glaze, which gives it a lovely patina, complete the charm of the piece. This decor is inspired by the great French earthenware of the 18th century, particularly the bird and foliage motifs beloved by the workshops of Rouen, which many earthenware factories later reinterpreted. The back bears a simple hand-painted number "12, " without a manufacturer's mark. A vintage plate full of freshness, to be paired with other decorative earthenware to create a plate wall. Overall good condition with cracks throughout the glaze, a few small firing spots, and slight stains on the back. Diameter 24 cm.
