"De Gustibus" plates by Alessandro Mendini for Design Memorabilia, 201

Italian work, 2015. D 19 X H 2 cm. Ceramic. Excellent condition. Each plate features a line drawing of an interior space, enhanced with bold colour blocks, and its title handwritten beneath the image. Three are available: Stanza selvaggia, Stanza sensuale, and Stanza meditativa. The reverse bears the printed mark of Alessandro Mendini. Alessandro Mendini (1931-2019), a figure of Studio Alchimia and later director of the Domus magazine, never separated the drawing of the object from drawing in general. The De Gustibus collection, presented at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan in March 2015 and published by Design Memorabilia, showcases this exercise: four imaginary rooms, four moods, depicted in line as vignettes. The plates are sold separately. They are drillable for wall hanging, a use for which the series was designed as much as for the table.
