17th century panelled oak coffer

This large oak coffer from the 17th century, most likely english, was designed originally as a travelling chest and seat. It has a hinged two panelled top that opens to a large compartment space, and a two panelled front with a nicely carved edge. It still has the original iron locking plate (no key). The 4 solid legs were raised in a later stage. This piece is in a good solid condition, with some signs of age and use as you can see in the pictures. A highly decorative piece!
