Rare old map of the seventeenth century in latin: sabaudia ducatus savoy (duchy of savoy) amstelodami judocus hondius excudit (made by jodocus hondius in amsterdam). Finely colorized period in watercolor. We see the south and east of switzerland lake geneva geneva helvetic alps, chambéry grenoble the lakes of niey and bourget, the alps murienne tarentaise etc, the central east and south-east of the france bresse dauphiné etc, western italy piedmontmap engraved on copper between 1630 and 1640 on two pages format (we see the vertical central fold). An explanatory text in dutch can be found on the back of these copies from a cartographic atlas. Format (spread card 38 X 49cm) in its frame 50 X 60cm, goes everywhere beveled, gilded wood frame, protective glass, no wall attachment on the back. No tears or lacks, tbe. Jodocus hondius is one of the most famous flemish engravers of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century. Buyer of the cartographer gérard mercator (creator of the 1st atlas), he continued to enrich his own atlas until around 1642. The engraver is probably another flemish abraham goos.
