Shallow dish (or bowl) in fine earthenware Terre de Fer signed by the famous manufacture Jules Vieillard & Cie (Bordeaux), dating from the late 19th century (circa 1880–1890). This model perfectly illustrates the era's enthusiasm for Japonisme and Orientalism: Cobalt blue printed pattern of great finesse depicting two dragons framing a scroll of calligraphy on the scalloped rim, as well as a flying peacock, a bat, and an Asian pavilion in the centre. Stamp under the base with three interlaced crescents, the emblematic mark of the Bordeaux manufacture. Dimensions: Diameter 22.5 cm|Height 3 cm. In beautiful vintage condition. Features a superb network of original crazing giving an authentic and sought-after patina. Fast and careful shipping.
