Antique Japanese low table with drawers made from Japanese cedar and shorea wood, dating from the early Showa period (circa 1926–1945). This type of table was part of the common household furniture in Japanese homes, used as a writing table, work table, or small low table. The piece features a balanced structure with two front drawers for storing writing tools or small everyday items. Its simple and functional design reflects the understated aesthetic of early 20th-century Japanese furniture. It is primarily made from Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), valued for its lightness and stability, combined with shorea wood (Shorea spp.) in some structural elements. The metal handles maintain their discreet and functional character. The surface exhibits a warm patina developed over time. Signs of use, variations in colour, and traces of daily life enhance the authenticity of the piece. Today, this table can be used as a low table, low desk, or side table, bringing a natural and calming presence to contemporary interiors. Details. Origin: Japan.
