LAR Cats Cradle Armchair Ray & Charles Eames Herman Miller original base

LAR armchair by Ray and Charles Eames, vintage Herman Miller edition. Eames LAR armchair, shell in Red-Orange on its original "Cats Cradle" base in galvanized steel finish. It is very rare to find an original Cats Cradle armchair as the production figures for this base were much lower than those of the other variants! Manufactured between 1959 and 1962 by the plastics division of the General American Transportation Corporation. GATC was one of the first three manufacturers of Eames hulls. Recognizable by the double triangle marking. Very beautiful hull with lots of fibers in red-orange, one of the first 6 colors of Eames fiberglass hulls. Very good condition without discoloration, just a very small crack of 1cm which has no influence on the solidity. Original shockmounts, screws and base with some surface rust. Seat height 31cm.
