Charles & Ray Eames DAX armchair on X-base, Herman Miller Fiberglass

Vintage Eames armchair, Herman Miller USA edition. The fiberglass hull is parchment/straw yellow in color and can be dated between 1959 and 1962. The first Eames fiberglass hulls were produced by Zenith, but in 1958 two new suppliers took over manufacturing: Cincinnati Milling Machine Company in Cincinnati and the General American Transportation Corporation (GATC) in Chicago. This hull is signed by the double triangle under the hull, therefore produced by the General American Transportation Corporation (GATC). The hull is in beautiful vintage condition, no cracks or breaks, patinated appearance, very fibrous. Original X-base, original black finish, cracked paint. Seat height +/-44cm
