Scandinavian enfilade by Troeds, designed by Nils Jonsson. Sweden, 1960. Length 253 cm, depth 43 cm, height 78 cm. Made of exotic wood, Sipo. 4 compartments: 2 sliding doors opening onto shelves, 1 front with 4 drawers including 1 in felt and an additional shelf for silverware, 1 chest with a drop-down door and a circular shelf for storing glasses and aperitif bottles. Very good overall condition, with minimal external marks consistent with its age. The inside of the drawers shows some dents and stains. Jonsson was known for his clever use of natural wood and his ability to create simple and elegant designs that were both functional and beautiful. His pieces were often characterised by organic shapes, delicate details, and smooth, glossy finishes. Nils Jonsson's furniture has been exhibited in art and design museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. His career was marked by numerous prestigious awards, including the Good Design Award in Chicago in 1960 and the Lunning Prize in 1959. Today, his furniture is considered a classic of modern design and is sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts around the world. The exotic wood essence Sipo is a sought-after species from Central Africa, valued in outdoor carpentry and cabinet making.
