Pair of Salmon Pink Ceramic Table Lamps by Louis Drimmer, New Lampshades

Pair of urn-shaped table lamps in salmon pink ceramic by Louis Drimmer, dating from the 1980s, in Hollywood Regency French style - classic urn-shaped body in glossy enamel, copper luster at the neck and foot, ceramic bases with steps. The entire set is topped with matching new paper shades. The height includes the shades. The shape draws inspiration from the neoclassical urn vocabulary that ran through French decorative arts, translated here in a very shiny register of the 1980s. The salmon pink glazed body broadens at the shoulder and narrows with copper collars at the neck and foot, all resting on a matching salmon pink ceramic pedestal, tiered relief. The contrast between a soft pastel background and a warm metallic glaze is characteristic of Drimmer's "Haute Couture" production of the time, when the factory built its reputation on ceramic bases hand-finished and enhanced with precious decorative gold, platinum, and copper. The matching paper shades carry a warm peach tone with long visible fibers that reprise the salmon base. One of the bases is signed in script. One of the lamps has a crack on the underside, visible only on close inspection (see images); otherwise, both lamps are in very good condition.
