Antique coloured lithograph entitled "A Hire Horse", published in 1844 in the Comique series of the famous Parisian satirical newspaper Le Charivari and printed by the Aubert and Junca printing house, an important lithographic publishing house of the 19th century. This print depicts a humorous scene from Parisian daily life, showing a horse and its rider being expelled from a shop. This type of caricature was very popular during the July Monarchy and today serves as a testament to social satire and urban life in the 19th century. Lithograph printed and then enhanced in colour, presented under glass with a cardboard mount and an antique wooden and gilded plaster frame. The whole forms a beautiful decorative wall object, typical of bourgeois interiors of that time, ideal for a cabinet of curiosities, an office, a library, or an antique-style decoration. Overall good condition. The old paper shows some foxing and slight signs of age, which are normal for a print of this period. The antique frame has minor wear and patina. Original 19th-century lithograph, not a reproduction. Frame dimensions: 51 X 44 X 3 cm / Lithograph: 25 X 21 cm. Careful packaging.
