Ancient religious painting – Biblical scene

Timeless charm for this old oil on cardboard. This charming cabinet painting depicts a classic biblical scene of evangelical inspiration (evoking Christ teaching or the Sermon on the Mount). The work captivates with its free and lively touch, characteristic of a preparatory sketch or studio study. The soft colour palette (ochre, powder pink, sky blue) gives the whole a serene atmosphere. The painting is beautifully highlighted by a large, moulded gilded wooden frame, which adds a lot of presence and depth to this small-format work. A unique piece of art, ideal for creating a collection of frames or for adding a touch of authenticity and "curiosity cabinet" spirit to your interior decor. Oil on cardboard Period: Late 19th / Early 20th century: In generally good condition. The patina of the gilded frame bears witness to its age and gives it all its charm (slight signs of wear visible, see photos). Total dimensions (with frame): 25 cm (height) × 21 cm (width) × 3.7 cm (depth) Dimensions of the work (inside the mount / view): 14.5 cm × 11 cm.
