Elegant small Louis XVI style chest of drawers, made in the 1940s, skillfully combining amboyna burl and rosewood. It opens with three harmoniously inlaid drawers: in the centre, a warm-toned amboyna burl framed by a light wood fillet forming delicate Greek angles, all highlighted by a rosewood surround that structures the façade with sobriety and distinction. Each drawer is adorned with two round handles in gilded bronze, finely chiselled in a laurel crown, a classic symbol during the reign of Louis XVI. In the centre, a ribboned keyhole, also in gilded bronze, accommodates an ornate key accompanied by its functional lock. The front uprights are decorated at the top with a gilded bronze drop depicting a delicately modelled garland, applied to a pilaster. The lower crossbar is enriched with a bronze fitting representing acanthus leaves, adding an extra decorative touch without weighing down the silhouette. The whole rests on tapered feet, also inlaid, ending in brass sabot that recall the tradition of 18th-century cabinetmakers. The top is crowned with a white Brèche de Médous marble, identifiable by its grey veins and subtle violet inclusions, bringing a luminous and elegant note to the composition. A bright and perfectly balanced piece, this small chest of drawers combines the charm of precious materials with the rigour of the Louis XVI style, offering both ornamental and timeless presence. Period: 1940. Excellent condition after restoration in our cabinetmaking workshop. Waxed finish. Dimensions: Width: 85 cm. Depth: 45 cm. Height: 84 cm. Reference 511V.
