Teak sideboard by Bengt Ruda, 1950s/1960s

Teak structure with sliding wood and glass doors, shelves in the side compartments and three lower drawers. Design by Bengt Ruda, Sweden, 1950s/1960s. Designed by Bengt Ruda between the 1950s and 1960s, this teak sideboard features a long, shallow body supported by distinctive angled legs that split at the sides to form a compass-like profile. The upper section is enclosed by two sliding teak doors and a sliding glass door, which can be moved along the front to access the different compartments: the two side compartments are fitted with a shelf, while the central one remains open at full height. Three drawers arranged along the lower section provide additional storage without interrupting the linearity of the front. The distinctive design of the legs and the combination of wooden and transparent surfaces give the piece a recognizable character within Bengt Ruda’s Swedish furniture production of the period.
