A stoneware ewer made of pyrite, the work of a potter, likely produced in the second half of the 20th century. The piece immediately captivates with its sculptural presence. The generous, almost spherical body is balanced by a narrow neck, a short, clean spout, and a handle sculpted from the same thickness, both functional and expressive. Each element seems conceived in terms of volume, with a true attention to proportion. The pyrite stoneware here offers a profoundly vibrant surface: a honey-brown and warm ochre base, punctuated by dark, almost metallic inclusions resulting from the reaction of oxides and minerals during firing. The satiny, nuanced glaze captures the light without excessive shine, reinforcing the mineral and organic aspect of the piece. In good vintage condition, with slight surface irregularities and glaze variations inherent to the handcrafted nature of pyrite stoneware, and a tiny chip inside the spout (see photos). Height 21 cm, height without lid 17 cm, width from spout to handle 17 cm, diameter at widest point 13 cm. Ideal for a contemporary interior that appreciates materials, blending wabi-sabi aesthetics, raw elegance, and sculptural everyday objects.
