1930s Bauhaus Cabinet

This Bauhaus cabinet from the 1930s comes from German production and gathers the core idea of the classical modern movement into an upright, slender piece of furniture. The carcass is made from veneered chipboard and finished with a silk matte lacquer, while the upper compartment with its sliding glass doors appears in a strong purple red and gives the cabinet a clear note of colour. Chrome-plated steel tube forms the frame and the handles, letting the Bauhaus cabinet read light and precise. Four closed compartments and two open shelves create storage for books, files and collectibles; the sliding glass doors keep the contents visible and the front closed at the same time. At 140 cm wide, 45 cm deep and 166 cm high, the piece fits as naturally into an old town apartment as into a modern interior and, in its excellent condition, remains a dependable piece for a library, a home office or a guest room.
