1870 / 1900 scallop shell Gien Opaque Faience / dancing woman. 1. Central motif. In the centre of the plate, there is a stylised representation of a female figure. • She wears a long blue-green dress and a pink/red top. • Her posture appears slightly turned, as if she is walking or dancing. • Around her, there are small colourful flowers and some plant elements. • She holds a bouquet of flowers in her hands. 2. Decoration around the inner rim. Surrounding the central scene, the rim (the sloped part of the plate) is decorated with repetitive motifs in the shape of fans or scallop shells. • These motifs alternate with triangular blue areas. • The fans contain small red, green, and blue ornaments. 3. Small golden or yellow details. Between the motifs, one can distinguish flowers that serve as decorative separators and rhythm the circular pattern. 4. Outer border. The edge of the plate features a linear blue pattern, made of small regular lines or hatching that frames the whole piece. Opaque faience from Gien. Seal on the reverse. 1880/1900. I consider it to be in very good condition given the age of the item. No chips, no cracks. Only used. Sold on a commercial site for €40! I am the cheapest.
